The E-Pilen Husqvarna's Answer to the Electric Bike Scene

Updated: Feb 13

During a shareholder's meeting of the Pierer Mobility Group (the owner of KTM, Husqvarna, and Gas Gas), a sketch of the new electric naked motorcycle called the Husqvarna E-Pilen was unveiled.

The influential motorcycle consortium, based in Mattighofen, is positioning itself to lead the electric motorcycle segment. For several years now, they have been developing electric versions of some of their traditional petrol-powered motorcycles.

It's worth noting that KTM has been offering the Freeride E-XC, which features an electric motor, for some time in their product line.

A couple of years back, spy photos captured a prototype of a Duke model equipped with an electric motor and transmission, during its testing phase.

The Husqvarna E-Pilen has a design that closely resembles the well-known Vitpilen. It features a multitubular chassis design with reinforcing ribs and a mono-shock suspension, which, in this model, is mounted on the right side.

The battery system is expected to be modular, and it will utilize a chain transmission. As for the motor, it is slated to come in two power options: 4 kW and 10 kW

These bikes will be produced by Husqvarna-KTM's partner in India, Bajaj, in early 2022.

Before and already in the next year, an electric Husqvarna scooter will arrive, with a 4 kW motor.
